Dollar Store Wreath

This was a fun wreath to make with the grandchildren. We also made initial wreaths. I think I will add a few vintage bling buttons to it.

Marbles & Mocha

I've made dozens of crackle marble necklaces for gifts. So easy and cheap! Well, not that I'm cheap but you can do a lot with them. Hang from a branch tree on ribbons or silver chains for a necklace tree that visitors can select one as a little gift. They might even find their birthstone. I use the bags of marbles in mixed colors. Pour the marbles in a very hot skillet being sure to keep the skillet moving as you swirl the marbles around gently until they are very hot. Pour the hot marbles into a ice water bath. They will crackle. I glued the bells on the one shown for a necklace.

I'm now enjoying coffee and my favorite creamer as I decorate the house = LOVE!

Free Wall Paper Books

I'm not sure if everyone knows you can get free wallpaper sample books at Sherwin Williams and other places that sell wallpaper. They pull out of date books at least once per month. They're GREAT for so many crafts. I use them in photo frames, paper doll clothes etc. I love the black photo corner tabs (Dollar Tree) to put photos in the center of a frame using paper for the background. I use brooches or shiny bling buttons on them in frames or for centers on paper flowers. They make great drawer liners or backgrounds on bookshelves. The books are full of border strips with matching paper. Sometimes you get a book full of cloth pages to go with the paper. Endless uses!

I Keep Hoping

I blog surf daily. I check out new blogs from the never ending list posted on each blog. I comment a LOT on blogs but don't seem to have many followers or comments. A few faithful that I truly appreciate! I guess I'm feeling a little down about my blog. I have a lot more to share and after photos to post. I'm wondering what I can do to help my blog grow. Any suggestions?

Saturday Night Is Girls Night

I have a guest bedroom fixed up for my grand-daughters and another for my grandson's when they come.
Last night was girls night and we had FUN! I laid out all the tap/dance shoes and outfits I've found at yard sales plus a big bag of scrap lace, scarfs, flowers etc that their great-grandmother donated. We went to parties and weddings, worked in a store, taught school AND worked in the baby nursery at the hospital ALL in one night. We are girls hear us ROAR!
I do believe they have Honey Darling's skills :)

Beef Goulash - Martha Stewart

I've fixed this during the Fall and Winter months for several years now. It's simple yet sooooooooooooo yummy!!!!!!!!!! If you try it please let me know how you liked it.

Ingredients

Serves 8 to 10.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 5 pounds beef chuck, well trimmed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 5 pounds yellow onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Hungarian paprika
  • 3 cups Homemade Beef Stock (I USED CARTON stock)
  • Sour cream, for garnish
  • 2 pounds broad egg noodles, cooked
  • Chopped chives, for garnish

Directions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over high heat. Season meat with salt and pepper to taste. Cook meat in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot, and adding 1 tablespoon each of butter and oil as needed. Cook each batch of meat until well browned on all sides, about 3 to 5 minutes, and transfer to a plate while the next batch browns.
  2. Reduce heat to low, add onions, and cook, stirring occasionally until onions are translucent, about 15 to 20 minutes. Return meat to pot, and add paprika and stock. Stir well to combine. Cook, covered, over very low heat, stirring occasionally, until meat is tender and the sauce has thickened, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Adjust seasonings. Serve over egg noodles with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkling of chives.

Goodwill Tidbit Tray

I found this tidbit tray a while back at Goodwill for 50cents (I think). It was silver and in good shape other than a few blemishes on the finish. I sprayed it soft celery green, filled it with cute soaps from Michael's and I now love it!

Witches Brew

I made witches brew today! It was my dads recipe. It isn't hot unless you use hot peppers. I sliced up green tomatoes, (almost red due to me letting them sit a few days before getting around to making this), sliced onion and peppers from our plants with hot vinegar poured over them. So good on fresh peas or vegetables!
I love the onion and tomatoes, too!!!

My Next Project

I have several old canvas bank bags that belonged to my grandfather. I'm going to use three of them to make pillows with. One for my mom, one for my aunt and one for myself. I'm leaning towards faded black or blue design and a initial like I've seen chair's done. Maybe, cloth rolled flowers attached instead. I've wanted to make flowers since I first saw them. Oh! I even have some beautiful broaches that would be perfect with the cloth flowers! I'll post the results once I've finished them.
I love the idea of using something that was my families. My mom will be really happy :)

OH! I have handmade dollies and beautiful old buttons to use. I will roll flowers with these for the pillows, too! That way the bags and dollies aren't harmed in any way!
I also found beautiful antique buttons to make rings for all the girls in our family. (Pictures soon)!  I'm REALLY excited to feel my creative side alive again :)

Something Blue....

I ask a woman with a carport full of stuff, if she was having a yard sale. She wasn't but was trying to get rid of items she was left with from a elderly man she took care of that passed away. She ask me to please take anything I wanted. She wouldn't take money. I have several beautiful Fenton pieces. This piece will go to my wonderful aunt for her blue/white beach rooms. I think I will fill it with white shells and a white starfish to lean against it.

A group photo of more found treasures that day :)

I'm love this piece! I'm going to look up info on it.

Remember.....

We have a lot of squirrels, chipmunks, Red birds and hummingbirds hangout around our backyard area. They've tried getting water from the pool lately. I put out dishes of water and this over sized cup full of pecans from my freezer (have to make room for this years pecans). Please remember the animals this winter.

BoO Ya'LL!

I saw these cute ghost in a magazine last week and gave them a try today. EASY five minute project! Wedding bells from Dollar Tree, cheese cloth from Dollar General and the eyes/mouth are scraps from my wallpaper books. I get the books free at Sherwin Williams when the dates expire! I have just the place to put these fellows with a few white lights scattered about the floor to make them shine:)

Baby Shower FuN!!!

I helped give a friend of my daughters a baby shower today. We played "MY WATER BROKE!" and "CATCH THE PAPPY/PASSIE". FUN!!!
My Water Broke- I froze tiny blue pacifier's in ice trays. Each guest had one in a clear cup. They couldn't "help" it along. This was to be a natural not induced baby! HAHA! The first person to see their passie floating out of it's ice in the cup had to scream MY WATER BROKE!
The other game "Catch The Passie"- Each guest was given a ring pop (NO germs). When it was their turn we blindfolded them and they had to catch the "passie" in their mouth as it swung from a fishing line. This was hilarious to watch!
Lots of laughs and fun. What a GREAT Sunday spent with family and friends.

Curb Find

I noticed my neighbor pushing this chest to the street. He said it was his grandmothers and it's sat around unused so he didn't want it. It now has a home. I can't wait to "redo" it!!!!!!!
